Spain is the third most popular tourist destination in the world, and it's not hard to see why: This country has so much to offer to the visitors, and every region has its own flavor!

Spain is positioned between Europe and Africa, and possesses many natural attractions. The coastline is very popular, and there are many other natural beauties for those who would like to escape from the coast. Besides, it has innumerable(无数的) cultural and historical destinations.

Madrid, the Capital of Joy and Contentment. (满意)

Madrid is one of Europe's largest cities, located at the very center of the Iberian Peninsula(伊比利亚半岛), sitting at a height of 2,200 feet above sea level. The climate of Madrid(马德里,西班牙的首都和城市) is characterized by warm dry summers and cool winters.

Madrid is called "the capital of joy and contentment." It has plenty of sights to keep the eyes, ears and mind occupied. It has great art museums including the Museo del Prado, and buildings like the Palacio Real that span the centuries, plus lively plazas, prominent boulevards(林荫大道) and charming neighborhoods.

Madrid isn't just a cultural destination however. It is also a lively metropolis(大都市) with pubs, cafés, discotheques(迪斯科舞厅) and nightclubs that stay open late into the night. No visit to Madrid would be complete without experiencing Madrid's legendary nightlife. Don't be surprised if you get stuck in a traffic jam at four in the morning and the people you meet are not necessarily going off to work.

With options ranging from the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the world to the standard fast food fare, Madrid offers culinary(厨房的,烹调用的) choices for all tastes and budgets. What tourists should bear in mind more than anything else are the eating hours in Spain. Lunch and the evening meal start much later than in many other countries. Lunch never starts before 1:30 p.m., and can be as late as 3:00 or 3:30 p.m. Dinner starts any time after 8:00 p.m., and many restaurants will not open until nine. In the summer, some families will not sit down for their evening meal until as late as 23:00.

Nobody is a foreigner in Madrid. Strangers quickly become friends, passion blooms in an instant and visitors swiftly(很快地,即刻) become addicted(使沉溺) to the city's charms. Anybody who arrives in Madrid and remains in the city for some time will find it difficult to leave.

口味各异的美食者能够以任何价位在马德里品尝到各式美食，这里既有长期营业的最古老的餐馆，也有一流的快餐。游客最需要注意的事情是西班牙的就餐时间。其午餐和晚餐的就餐时间比许多其它国家都要迟很多。人们绝不会在下午1点半前开始午餐，有时还可能推迟至下午3点或 3点半。晚餐于晚上8点后的任何时间开始，而许多餐馆在9点之前是不会开门的。夏天里，有的人家甚至会到深夜11点才坐下来吃晚饭。

在马德里，没有人是外地人。 陌生人们很快就会成为朋友，游客不久便充满热情，并且马上为这座城市的魅力所倾倒。 任何到马德里来的人，在这个城市呆上一段时间之后，都会留连往返。
