Before you make friends, you have to decide who you want to be your friends. Most people like to have friends who like to do the same kind of things they do.
The quickest way to make a friend is to smile. When you smile, people think you are friendly and easy to talk to. It may not be easy at first to smile, but remember most people will stay away from a scared or angry looking face.
One easy way to start a conversation with someone is to say something nice about him. Think about how great you feel when someone says something nice to you. Doesn’t it make you want to keep talking to that person?
Ask your new friends questions about themselves. Who’s their favorite singer, where do they live, what do they do after school are all good questions to start a conversation. Make sure you have something to add to the conversation, too. When someone asks you a question, do have an answer for them. There’s nothing that will stop a conversation quicker than a shrug (耸肩) for an answer.
Kids who show an interest in other kids and who are kind and friendly make good friends. Remember, everyone wants to be around people who like to do similar things and people who are nice to them.

In a great many cities, hundreds of people ride bikes to work every day. In New York, some bike riders have even formed a group called Bike for a Better City. They declare that if more people rode bikes to work, there would be fewer automobiles in the downtown part of the city and so less dirty air from car engines.
For several years, this group had been trying to get the city government to help bike riders. For example, they want the city to draw special lanes(车道) for bikes on some of the main streets, because when bike riders must use the same lanes as cars there are accidents. Bike for a Better City feels that if there were special lanes, more people would use bikes.
But no bike lanes have been drawn. Not everyone thinks it is a good idea—they say it will slow traffic. So me store owners on the main streets don’t like the idea—they say that if there is less traffic, they will have less business.
The city government has not yet decided what to do. It wants to keep everyone happy. On weekends, Central Park—the largest place open ground in New York— is closed to cars, and the roads may be used by bikes only.

One is not born able to speak a language. One is born able to make a noise. I have heard babies cry in America and in China. I can’t tell any difference. But when I hear someone from America speak English and hear someone speak Chinese, I can tell you there are a lot of differences.
I believe a common(普遍的) problem with Chinese students’ learning English is that they were not taught to think in English. They have an idea spoken in English and want to translate the idea into Chinese, then they think in Chinese of the proper reply and translate it into English. After a long period of speaking the language, one begins to think in the foreign language naturally. You will learn faster if you begin to think in English at the very beginning of your study. Many students ask me: What can I do to improve my spoken English?
My reply is: The more English you speak, the better English you will speak. There are many things you can do to improve your spoken English. Of course, the best way is to live where English is sp oken as a language of the country.
67. The cries of American and Chinese babies are _______.
A. different B. the same
C. not like each other D. like each other
68. The underlined sentence (in Paragraph 2) means that___ ___.
A. some teachers didn’t teach students to think in English
B. teachers never gave the students the way of learning English
C. students didn’t remember the way teachers taught them
D. teachers didn’t want their students to think in English
69. The underlined word “they” (in Paragraph 2) refers to “_____”.
A. Chinese students B. English students
C. Chinese teachers D. English teachers
70. According to the article, which of the following is TRUE?
A. You must think in English all the time.
B. You should always translate English into Chinese.
C. After speaking English for a long time, you may probably think in English naturally(自然地).

第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)xkb1.com
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。
It is important to teach your dog to guard you and the other members of your family against danger. Here are some tips on how to train your dog to protect you.
Use proper commands.
A dog acts according to how it has been trained. The only way to do this is through commands and your own body actions and sounds. 71 Soon, whenever you use the command “Attack!”, your dog will understand that it needs to fight the thing you are pointing at. While you are training the dog to attack, you must also train it to stop the attack.
Encourage socializing(交际).
It is very important to introduce your puppy to other people and let it interact(互动)with them.
72 This exercise is very important because it will help the dog distinguish(辨别)between good people and bad people. People who are good will be those who are allowed to come close to it and pat it.
73
Teach your dog to keep a check on the house by taking it around the house and making it sniff(嗅)the area. You will need to do this a couple of times so that the dog understands that it needs to keep a check every night. After a few days, the dog will begin to do this exercise on its own. It will check the house and return back indoors.
74
Giving rewards such as a pat, a hug, verbal praise “Good dog!” or treats is an excellent way of letting the dog know that you are happy with its behavior. Since you are the master, it is your duty to make sure your dog is rewarded for its good behavior and punished for its bad behavior. Punishment involves scolding the dog by using the command “Bad dog!” or “No, very bad!” 75
A.Teach night guarding.
B.Reward it for its good behavior.
C.Command the dog to attack by saying the word “attack” loudly.
D.An older dog can alsobe trained to protect its master.
E.A good guard dog is friendly to the people around it.
F.This will help the dog learn that it mustn’t do certain things.
